Chronic Wound Care: VAC, Versajet, EGF Applications

In chronic wound care, various methods are used to promote wound healing and prevent complications using some special devices and applications. Applications such as VAC (Vacuum Assisted Surgery), Versajet, EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) are some of the frequently used methods in this context.

VAC (Vacuum Assisted Surgery):

VAC is a vacuum device used to promote wound healing. A special dressing or dressing placed over the wound is connected to a suction pump that is part of the device.
VAC creates negative pressure in the wound by reducing the air pressure around the wound. This facilitates the removal of fluid and dead tissue from the wound, reduces the risk of infection and cleans the wound surface.
Negative pressure accelerates tissue healing by increasing blood flow to the wound surface. Additionally, VAC can reduce edema around the wound and aid wound healing.

Versajet:

Versajet is a surgical instrument and system used for wound cleaning and necrotic tissue removal.
This system is used to clean the injured area with water jet and remove damaged tissue. The water jet softens and cleans the wound surface, thus promoting wound healing.
Versajet is used during surgical procedures or the removal of infected fluids that have accumulated in the wound.

EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) Applications:

EGF is a growth factor that promotes the growth and proliferation of skin cells. This factor can accelerate the processes of wound healing and epithelialization (recovering of the wound surface).
EGF is used specifically for chronic wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers and pressure ulcers. Topical creams or gels containing EGF are applied to the wound surface.
EGF applications are used as a strategy to promote wound healing and accelerate healthy tissue growth around the wound.

These applications, each used for a specific purpose, are designed to support chronic wound care and accelerate the healing process. Treatment plans should be individualized based on the patient's wound type, condition, and health history. Such practices should be used in chronic wound care under the supervision and direction of a healthcare professional.
