Stem Cell Treatment

Stem cell therapy is a medical approach used to treat diseases and repair damaged tissue. This treatment involves using stem cells obtained from different parts of the body or tissue banks. Here is more information about stem cell therapy:

What is Stem Cell?
Stem cells are unspecialized cells that have the ability to transform into different cell types in the body. Therefore, stem cells can help repair damaged or lost tissues. There are two basic types:

Embryonic Stem Cells: These types of stem cells are obtained from the embryo. Embryonic stem cells can differentiate into any cell type.

Adult Stem Cells: They are taken from mature tissues in the body and generally have a more limited ability to differentiate. For example, adult stem cells can be obtained from areas such as bone marrow, fat tissue and muscle tissue.

Application of Stem Cell Treatment:
Stem cell therapy can be applied in the following ways:

Bone Marrow Transplantation: Bone marrow or peripheral blood stem cells are used during cancer treatment or treatment of blood diseases. This treatment involves transplanting the patient's own stem cells or a donor's stem cells after administering high doses of radiation or chemotherapy to destroy damaged or cancerous cells.

Tissue Engineering: This method involves using laboratory-grown stem cells to replace damaged tissue. For example, cartilage cells can be used to treat joint disorders, or heart tissue cells can be used to treat cardiac diseases.

Intra-articular Injections: This means injecting stem cells directly into the joint space to relieve joint pain and improve joint function. It is especially used in the treatment of joint disorders such as osteoarthritis.

Intravenous or Local Injections: Stem cells can be injected intravenously or directly into the problem area to improve the patient's general health or to treat a local problem.

Stem cell therapy can potentially help treat many diseases, but like any medical procedure, it involves risks and benefits. Additionally, stem cell therapy may be regulated and therefore may differ in each country. It is important to meet with a healthcare professional before starting treatment and evaluate whether treatment is right for you.
